A IVSA (International Veterinarian Students Association) disponibiliza aos seus membros diferentes actividades no âmbito do programa de Intercâmbios. Actualmente os alunos de Veterinaria do ICBAS, em virtude da AEICBAS estar associada à ANEM Vet, podem registar-se no site da IVSA (www.ivsa.org) sob o estatuto de Group Member. Após formalizarem a inscrição, tendo em atenção que no campo “Select your group membership Country and local chapter”devem ter seleccionado “Portugal - IVSA Lisbon”, passarão a poder candidatar-se às seguintes actividades:

Intercâmbios Individuais

O Coordenador de Intercâmbios (Exchange Officer – EO) da ANEM Vet actua como um mediador junto dos Coordenadores de Intercâmbios das outras associações nacionais/comités locais de estudantes de Medicina Veterinária. Todos os alunos interessados em realizar um Intercâmbio devem indicar a área e o país de interesse, sendo essa informação veiculada através de uma Application Form preenchida no site da IVSA e complementada com a informação enviada ao EO nacional (ver regulamento de intercâmbios individuais). A Application Form e a restante informação é reencaminhada para os EO’s estrangeiros de países de destino os quais ficam responsáveis por procurar estágios que se enquadrem nos moldes requisitados pelo aplicante. O tipo de estágio a realizar seguirá sempre o modelo de trabalho como voluntário, onde se acompanha as actividades levadas a cabo por um tutor (trabalho clínico - mais frequente - e investigação), podendo – sob orientação – participar nas mesmas. O regulamento da IVSA para este tipo de intercâmbios é o seguinte:

1.     Exchanges are available to students enrolled in member faculties and to individual members of I.V.S.A.

2.     Exchanges are to be arranged through the I.V.S.A. Exchange Officer (EO) in each member faculty.

3.     Every application must be accompanied by a covering letter. This letter should explain what your goals are and what your past veterinary related work experience is. Also include information about the flexibility (or lack of it) of your schedule for the time period you request.

4.     Some countries require a filing fee (not to exceed US). Be sure to check the Exchange Officers Manual to see if the country you wish to visit charges this fee.

5.     The EO will send one copy of this form to the country the student wishes to visit, one copy for the student and one for him/her self.

6.     The host country will endeavor to provide free board and lodging whenever possible.

7.     EO’s are asked to ensure that the exchange forms arrive at the host country at least 6 month before the exchange date.

8.     The EO of the hosting country has to let the student know within the following month (i.e. 5 months before the exchange is going to take place) if an exchange is possible and if not, whether or not the application form should be sent to the 2nd choice country.

9.     In case the application form is sent to the EO of the 2nd choice country she/he will have to let the student know within the next month if an exchange is going to take place. So the student will know at least 4 months in advance if there is going to be an exchange.

10.   Once the exchange has been confirmed by the EO, the student MUST contact the host veterinarian/clinic to confirm personally the exchange. Contact should be established at the latest 2 months before the exchange will take place.

11.   If no contact has been established 2 months before the exchange has to take place, it is up to the EO of the host country to find out for what reason no contact has been established. The EO has one month to accomplish this. This means that the veterinarian, both the EO and the student know at least one month before the exchange whether or not it is going to take place.

12.   If students fail to contact the veterinarian without good reasons, she/he can be excluded from any other exchanges.

13.   If the student requires assistance in acquiring a visa, she/he must request that information in writing at the time of application.

14.   Students should arrange their own personal health insurance. If they choose not to, they do so at their own risk.

15.   The above rules shall apply at the discretion of the host country.

16.   The applicant should complete the necessary evaluation form and send it to the EOs within 30 days of completing the exchange. The EO will put the relevant information in the evaluation form that has to be sent to the Chief Exchange Officer.

17.   All exchanges are arranged at the applicants own risk and the IVSA cannot be responsible for any loss, injury or death resulting directly or indirectly from exchanges arranged throught the organisation.

Intercâmbios em Grupo

Grupos de alunos interessados em realizar um intercâmbio em grupo organizam um estágio de duração de 1 dia a 2 semanas numa faculdade no estrangeiro, o qual terá uma componente teórica prática e cultural. É objectivo destes estágios que os participantes possam ter contacto com a realidade do ensino e prática veterinários na instituição anfitriã e o seu impacto na sociedade, podendo ainda aproveitar para conhecer um pouco mais da cultura envolvente. Após a realização desta actividade os alunos em questão ficam responsáveis por organizar um estágio semelhante na sua própria faculdade, numa data posterior, para alunos da faculdade que visitaram.
